March Ministry Update

Greetings from Amsterdam,

Rejoicing with you for answered prayers and how the Lord is moving in Amsterdam.

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead…” - 1 Peter 1:3

Thank you for praying for our time with the mission team earlier this month reaching out to refugees. Here are some photos of the precious times of sharing meals as well as stories of hope and testimony to God’s goodness through salvation with both friends from last year and new connections.

Please pray for fruit to come from the conversations and truth that was shared. And, pray for the Lord to open new opportunities for His message of love to be poured out. Thanks!!

20 year Reflection ~ March 2001 and 2011

Both in March 2001 and 2011, I experienced short-term mission (STM) trips, which were incredibly formative in God opening new doors in ministry. In 2001 while working in high school ministry in Orlando, Florida I joined a team of people from our church for a 10-day trip to Torino, Italy. This was my second time to be on a STM in Europe, however, that particular trip opened my eyes to a deeper need of the gospel in Western Europe. Specifically, the Lord provided a wonderful opportunity with the translator, Cristina, who assisted me in reaching out to the University students.

Over the course of several days Cristina translated the gospel message, as well as other bible stories. I could sense God was softening her heart toward His truth as one day she shared with me that she knew she had a "hole" inside of her that God wanted to fill. I pray salvation has come to Cristina. That trip in 2001 may have been laying groundwork in my heart for God’s calling a few years later when I was asked to consider moving to Amsterdam.

In 2011, I had my first opportunity to serve on mission in Africa with a team of 4 others from our Amsterdam church. Being in Kenya and working with 32 orphan kids opened my eyes and heart to ways in which we, in our western church, could be involved to build into their lives spiritually and help with their education. Since that first trip, I’ve led a Kenya Connection ministry to continue raising funds for their academic needs and also spearheading STM’s over Christmas. In 2018 I’ll be taking my 7th Kenya mission trip to work with the orphans and their staff.

I praise the Lord for how STM’s have been used in my life, not only to pour out His love and truth, but to receive many blessings in return.

Rejoicing with you in our risen Lord!
Happy Easter,
