November/December Ministry Update

Greetings from Amsterdam,

Thank you for lifting up our Fall Focus outreach in prayer. Here is a follow-up to the prayer request from my last update:

Making Jesus Known

My small group community has been focusing on sharing our faith in word and deed. Recently we’ve chosen several practical ways to be God’s light and show His love. In October, we pooled our resources in order to bless 100 needy children in the world to receive a Christmas box through Samaritan’s Purse, which will include the gospel message in each child’s native tongue. In addition, we sponsored 4 children to be equipped with materials for a 12 week lesson on knowing Jesus, becoming like Jesus and making Him known. This ‘The Greatest Journey’ program completely resonated with my community since in lines up with our church’s vision here in Amsterdam. How nice for our hearts to be united with youth all over the world in a like-minded way.

On November 2nd, we volunteered at a Serve the City project and spent the day with ex-drug addicted women providing them with beauty treatments (facials, manicures, hair styling, shoulder and foot massages, etc) as well as nice interaction. These vulnerable women were mostly cautious at first, but throughout the day warmed up and were very relaxed. In the end, they asked when we’d be coming back. ☺ It was a moving experience to engage with these women, reminding them through our physical touch and presence of their value, worth and that they are not forgotten.

In response to our visit, the Director of the program wrote:

"Dames, ontzettend bedankt voor jullie inzet vandaag!! De vroiuwen hebben er heel erg van genoten. En zoals jullie hebben gehoord: het is zeker voor herhaling vatbaar! :-)" (Ladies, thanks for your effort today!! The women have had much enjoyment. And like you’ve heard: it is certainly possible to repeat!)

Women’s Ministry

A regular part of the calling God has on my life includes being available for conversations or divine appointments with Christian women, as well as those who don’t yet believe in Jesus as Lord.

Recently, I’d met with Liz, a young Dutch woman. She is longing to find her way forward in life through God’s provision of a new housing situation and new job, but at the same time hasn’t sensed God’s clear direction.

After one of our recent conversations, Liz responded:

Dear Linda,
Thank you so much for your wise words, spending time and your care! The decision is made. I was looking forward to moving to Utrecht, something new with a bunch of lovely people... but the peace was lacking. So 'no' I won’t go. And I have so much peace now. Monday night God woke me up and showed me that His power is in me! Wow!!! I won't miss my calling, place to live and the place in my life! I have His power in me and working for me!! (Ephesians 1:19 ... and how overwhelming big is the working power of the mighty God for us who believe).

Support raising needs – short trip to America & prayer for my father

Over the past 6 months $450 in monthly support has been lost, therefore I will be in Florida raising support from November 13-19th. If anyone is interested in getting together please send me an email soon. Then I’ll be traveling to Arizona for some support raising and to see my parents over Thanksgiving. Thankfully my father’s chemotherapy treatments seem to be going very well. After another 2 treatments he will have another PET scan to determine if the lymphoma is gone. Thanks for your prayers for my dad, Alan, and our family.

You’ll hear from me again in the New Year! Have a wonderful celebration of the Lord’s birth this coming holiday season.

United with you for Jesus,
Linda
