November-December Ministry Update

Greetings from Amsterdam,

“You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and ... your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God. This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord's people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God.” - 2 Corinthians 9:11-12, NIV

I rejoice and am thankful for the generosity and answered prayers I experienced from the Lord and many others during my 2016 furlough over the 3.5 months I was in the U.S., from late July to early November. Here’s a snapshot:

  • 5365 dollars raised for special gifts (81% of goal)
  • 3379 miles driven while support raising
  • 614 dollars raised in monthly support (88% of goal, to make up for the shortfall of support)
  • 433 miles/ 697 kilometers cycled across Iowa with my sister, Marlene, on the RAGBRAI
  • 334 new Reliant photo prayer cards handed out
  • 166 individuals I shared with about the missions work through Reliant, both partners and potential partners
  • 93 new Reliant photo prayer cards sent in the mail
  • 26 different places where I laid my head at night, in 8 different states
  • 19 church services or Sunday school classes I was able to share the “On mission in Amsterdam” story with
  • 17 flights, including support raising travel and family trips
  • 15 states traveled in or through (AZ, NE, IA, CO, TX, IN, MI, IL, OH, PA, NY, NC, TN, FL, CA)
  • 15 days with my parents — great times watching Olympics, helping Dad with handyman jobs, cleaning out the chimney, sweeping pine needles off their roof, taking walks in the beautiful pine forest & being together
  • 12 increases in support from current ministry partners with Reliant
  • 10 weeks of support raising resulting in 10 new Reliant donors
  • 5 open houses provided by sweet friends and ministry partners, in 3 different states
  • 5 weeks of time with family, including…
  • 5 days with siblings and brother-in-law & sister-in-law in Napa Valley, CA celebrating my sister’s 30th Anniversary
  • 4 trains ridden — 2 in Germany, 2 in the Netherlands
  • 3 rental cars & 3 borrowed cars
  • 1 friend, Michelle Beckman, from Orlando, FL who went home to be with Jesus after battling cancer for 5 years. I’m grateful to have watched her memorial service via Live Stream, which was very special.
  • Special moments and time together with family members and friends ~ PRICELESS!!!

I praise the Lord for a smooth transition back to Amsterdam and for the final preparations being made for the mission trip to Kenya over Christmas.

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” - Isaiah 9:6, NIV

I’d appreciate your prayers for the upcoming mission trip:

  1. Traveling mercies on December 14th and 29th.
  2. Good conversations with the 6 staff & 34 kids, life giving & empowering truths to be shared / received in each heart
  3. Eternal impact in the hearts and souls of the guardians and neighbors who attend the Christmas party
  4. That the nativity play clearly share the power and purpose of the new born King, Jesus
  5. That the playground we’ll be building will bring many hours of joy to the orphan kids and neighborhood

Praising God together with you as we celebrate "The Word became flesh and dwelt among us...", God with us ~ Emmanuel!

Forever grateful to Jesus and the gift of life here on earth and eternally,
