September/October Ministry Update

Greetings from Amsterdam,

The leaves on the trees are changing colors, the days are growing shorter, the nights are much cooler and added layers of clothing and thicker jackets are beginning to be the norm. It’s been a lovely autumn so far. My knee rehabilitation has included alternating days of strength training with cycling. The areas where I’ve chosen to bike (Amsterdam forest, countryside, etc) have been so refreshing with the changing landscape and beautiful aroma that only comes this time of year.

And, I’m glad to share that the 4 months of rehab so far have provided good results. By the New Year I hope to be running again. Thanks for your prayers.

Fall Focus in Ministry

Amsterdam50 has recently had both a leaders meeting and family meeting, which typically take place quarterly. One of the main focuses has been on our vision’s third part, which is: Making Jesus Known.

Our ministry leaders (worship team, prayer ministry, communication ministry, teaching ministry) and small group Community leaders gathered together to provide updates on what God has been stirring in our midst, asking ourselves in what ways we’re crying out to Christ to be used by Him, and also taking time to consider and discuss the following questions:

  1. Who are you reaching out to/praying for?
  2. What can your ministry team or community do together to be light and love in the city this Fall?

The results of our times together have provided a solid fall focus setting us on an encouraging path to be brighter lights in the city for the gospel. In addition, following up with some training/evangelistic tools is on the docket. Exciting and faith-filled times ahead!

European Pastors Summit

Amsterdam50 hosted the annual Pastors Summit, where 40 pastors and leaders from ten countries came together to pray for Europe and discuss strategic plans for reaching the continent with the gospel through actively involving each follower of Christ in our churches or ministries. It was the first time to have representatives from Moldova, Romania , Sweden and Russia join the others from Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain, and Ukraine.

There were six different leaders from Amsterdam50 who were available to be a part of at least one session during the Summit. Ronnie, a young man from Kenya, has been a part of our church for the past year or so. He was able to attend every day, so we look forward to him being able to encourage us through what he took away from the time, which seems to flow well with our fall focus. Ronnie has a huge servant heart and desires to grow God’s Kingdom here in Amsterdam, particularly through reaching out to fellow refugees. Please pray for God to continue using Ronnie in powerful ways to reflect the gospel in everything he does.

I spearheaded a wonderful team of about 12 volunteers who provided 4 meals, multiple coffee/snack breaks and a warm atmosphere at our ministry center for the Summit. After 4 days the leaders returned to their countries built up and encouraged.

Please pray for God to move mightily through Amsterdam50 as well as throughout Europe, that His gospel is shared in word and deed growing His Kingdom – ALL for His Glory.

Thank you for your prayers and financial support, which allow me to be a part of this work.

God bless you,
